INTERNATIONAL GOLFERS VISITING ABU DHABI NO LONGER NEED TO UNDERTAKE PCR TEST BEFORE TRAVELLING

Tourists flying to the UAE capital also don’t need to undertake an on-arrival PCR test, which was previously mandatory –

Abu Dhabi, UAE; 10 March 2022: Following confirmation from the authorities in Abu Dhabi at the beginning of March that people travelling to the emirate no longer need to take a COVID-19 test to enter the emirate, has led to both Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and Yas Links Abu Dhabi receiving an uptick in booking enquiries to play their courses from international golfers.

Effective from 7th March onwards, international travellers no longer need to take a PCR test when landing at Abu Dhabi International Airport as per UAE government directives, following the decreased rate of infection in the capital in Q1 2022. International travellers can still test upon arrival by using the on-site airport facility for a cost of Dh40 ($11) per test.

This news follows further easing of COVID-19 rules in the UAE, which were announced at the end of February when Abu Dhabi confirmed that it was removing border requirements for entering the emirate. With the emirate’s Emergency, Crisis and Disasters committee confirming the removal of EDE scanners as well as the removal for a green pass to enter Abu Dhabi emirate from within the UAE. These changes were also announced on the same day that UAE restaurants are now able to return to 100 per cent capacity.

Due to it currently being the UAE’s “peak season” with cooler weather, Yas Links Abu Dhabi and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club have been working closely with tour operators to encourage an influx of visitors, both domestic and international to book golf trips in the capital over the coming months. However, visitors will still need to download Al Hosn, the UAE’s official app related to Covid-19. Upon entry to either club, visitors will need to prove they have green status in order to gain access.
Matthew Waters, Group Director of Golf, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Yas Links Abu Dhabi & Yas Acres Golf & Country Club said, “We are delighted by this news, which makes travelling to and from Abu Dhabi a much easier proposition going forward, whilst ensuring a safe environment simultaneously. It will be incredibly exciting for us to welcome back international golfers in even greater numbers. Particularly for those who have not visited before and will now be able to challenge themselves on our beautiful courses in a safe and worry-free environment for the very first time.”

International travellers can visit the Troon Abu Dhabi website to take advantage of a range of attractive green fees as well as off-course offerings too. Visitors to both courses will be able to use the practise facilities and secure access to the latest hardware technology and software brands and collections. Troon’s fully qualified and experienced PGA coaches will also be on hand to provide any assistance required. Individual lessons start from 420 AED and include bottled water, towels, and equipment. For foodies, Troon Dining offers an international array of cuisine, casual atmosphere, and friendly service at both venues.
